n.a.t.u.r. future project: Public space as a stage

Wild green areas, bicycle campaigns, a throwing wall for food and much more – all in the middle of the city? Numerous different art events, many of which refer to issues of sustainability? That must mean the n.a.t.u.r. festival ("Natürliche Ästhetik trifft urbanen Raum" – natural aesthetics meet urban space) is on.

The festival is the most well-known event run by Bochum's "Oskar e. V." association within the context of its n.a.t.u.r. future project. What we are talking about here is nothing less than society’s transition to sustainability. That’s why the activities are supposed to involve, entertain, educate and animate as wide an audience as possible to join in. From the kindergarten to the old people's home, from the university to the conveyor belt, everyone is encouraged to get involved in the project.

Engine for progress:

  • high motivation, awareness-raising and education effect
  • a shining example for other cities
  • increase in the quality of life for the population

Food waste is just one of the topics it is raising awareness of.

Art and Climate Protection

And topics such as sustainability, climate and energy, progress and mobility are being creatively addressed together with and by the city's art scene. Spread out over the whole year, centralised and decentralised events are taking place: from urban gardening to promoting walking and cycling, from upcycling to performances that are inspiring and sometimes even irritating.

Quality of life in the city

The city of Bochum appreciates the events because they promote civic engagement and the population's identification with their own living environment. That’s why the n.a.t.u.r future project will also be developed further over the next few years. And this does not have to be limited to Bochum. The whole concept can be easily transferred to other cities. The team can also gladly be contacted regarding events in your city.
